Spreading Beds with Jesus

How He shows up in the midst of the ordinary!

The way my daughter Eliana spreads the beds blesses me. When she makes the beds, she is literally being the hands and feet of Jesus.

When I was in bed with excruciating pain the one thing I would do is make the bed. I would get out of the bed, make it up, then climb back into it. It sounds crazy but there was something about making the bed that brought some peace to what I knew was about to be a very painful day.

As it got harder for me, I noticed that Ellie would come alongside me (at like 3 years old) and she would help me make the bed. She would say “don’t worry Mom, I got this side”. It would bring tears to my eyes.

I don’t remember ever asking her to start making her bed but one day, she just started doing it. But she doesn’t just do her bed, she does Nia’s bed too. When I asked her why, she said, “well I just wanted to help Daddy and you know Mom, Nia doesn’t know how to make her bed yet but I’ll teach her. Don’t worry.”

You see, Eliana takes pride in doing things to make your lives easier. She actually enjoys making people smile. It’s one of the reasons the pandemic was so hard for her. She has told us so many times, I just miss seeing people smile.

In a world that glorifies excitement and where crowds gather to see celebrities, there’s something about getting a glimpse of Jesus in the heart of your daughter that makes your heart leap.

Even as we get excited about meeting Jesus in the midst of a large worship concert or conference, there’s something about meeting Him in the simple things that makes me run to Him, even more, every day.

When I walked into their room this morning and saw the beds already made, just like they have been almost every morning for the last year or so…I could feel His presence. In this room today, I encountered Jesus.

He longs to meet with you. Don’t miss Him today friends!

Eliana Grace…you are such a gift and a joy!

 For this I prayed ❤️
